A Review of Taxonomic Perspective of Diversity in Gymnosperms of Kashmir Himalaya

Varied floristic works relevant to Kashmir Himalaya were thoroughly examined compile taxonomic contributions of various taxonomists viz. a diversity in gymnosperms this region. Extensive field surveys and standard methods used locate, collect, identify prepare an updated list the target group. A total 25 species belonging 13 genera 6 families 4 orders have been documented from Himalaya. Wild are represented by 11 with conifers forming most dominant Among families, Pinaceae is highest species, while Taxaceae least represented. Cultivated exceed wild growing Cupressaceae 9 whereas Ginkgoaceae Out 19 (7 + 12 cultivated) trees, 5 (3 2 shrubs only 1 sub-shrub.
